Why study at Tuakau College?
We welcome international students to our clean, green and safe environment. Students may choose to homestay with a Kiwi family to experience our great New Zealand outdoor lifestyle whilst increasing their English language skills. We currently offer a full Year 7-13 mainstream study programme. All international students are eligible for ESOL support from a qualified teacher.
What does Tuakau College offer?
At Tuakau College, international students will find a good mix of town and country life, with close proximity to both Auckland & Hamilton cities, and all their attractions.
Tuakau College has strong affiliations with local Iwi, providing our International students first hand cultural engagement and experiences of local kawa (protocol).
Our aim is to prepare all young people for life by offering a broad based, quality education which promotes excellence in four areas of knowledge – academic, sporting, cultural and social activities.
Tuakau College International – the best of both worlds!
Hosting an International Student is a wonderful experience for you and your family. It is a great opportunity to create long lasting friendships with the student that stays with you and to experience and gain knowledge about a different culture. The homestay fee is available on request from the International Manager.
If you are a new host family, there is an application process. You will need to complete an application form, have a police vet check and home visit. Students must have their own bedroom, 3 meals and suitable snacks daily.
If you require any more information, please contact the International Manager at [email protected] or phone 09 2368521 ext. 141 or alternatively fill out the application form, which can be found below, to become a homestay caregiver. The International Manager will then contact you to arrange a home visit. We have many students already booked for 2020 so if you’re interested get in touch!
